Nach der Installation eines SLES11 Gastes auf unserem ESXi warf ich einen Bllick in /var/log/warn

Was ich dort sah,war sehr häßlich:

Oct 26 12:07:20 sles0011 tpvmlpd[4544]: device type not supported

Oct 26 12:07:50 sles0011 tpvmlpd[4547]: device type not supported

Das ganze Logfile war damit zugemüllt. Eine kurze Suche ergab: VMWare Tools installiert THINPRINT, für das ich zumindest auf diesem System auch keinerlei Verwendung hätte.
Also wie werde ich es los (in 10 Tagen )?

Leider habe ich bisher nicht wirklich eine elegante Lösung gefunden, aber man weiß sich ja zu helfen:

also vi /etc/init.d/vmware-tools

Dort ist bei ca. Zeile 1006 der Start des THINPRINT eingetragen.

# Setup thinprint serial port and start daemon

für mich war diese Zeile inspirierend:

if [ "$vmdb_answer_THINPRINT_CONFED" = 'yes' ]; then

Naja ... wenn er das so will, dann gebe ich ihm mal ein "no":

# VERSUCH DEN THINPRINT ZU STOPPEN - linuxpeter
vmdb_answer_THINPRINT_CONFED='no'

Damit ist dann gleich Ende mit THINPRINT

Nach einem Neustart gehts demSystem - zumindest im /var/log/warn - wieder besser.

Ich hatte auch noch folgende Infos gefunden:
vmware_db='/etc/vmware-tools/locations'

In der Datei gibt es die Zeile: answer THINPRINT_CONFED yes
 

Leider hat das umsetzen auf "no" an dieser Stelle keine Auswirkung (zumindest bei mir und auf die Schnelle).
